Painter and engraver ; born in Leicester ; trained as an architect ; studied at Leicester School of Art, Royal College of Art (travelling scholarship in architecture), Paris and Italy ; became Associate of the Royal Academy (1936), Associate of the Royal Society of British Artists (1923), Member of the Royal Society of British Artists (1924), Associate of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers (1929), Member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters (1937), Associate of the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours (1927) and Member of the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours (1931) ; lived in London (1905 and 1910), Groby, Leics. (1908).
