Born in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire (26 September 1848); educated at Birmingham School of Design and at the Royal Academy Schools, London (from 1867); married the Irish poet William Allingham (1874); Associate (1875), then full Member (when the bar on women members was lifted 1890) of Old Water-Colour Society; painted vernacular architecture and lanscapes; died at Haslemere, Surrey (28 September 1926).
