Functions, occupations and activities
Physician in Berne; made anatomical models from wax, and also made wax portraits for friends; moved to Paris at the request of Louis-Francois de Bourbon (1761); taught wax modelling to Mme Tussaud; moved to the Palais Royal (1770), and later set up a "Caverne de grands voleurs", the basis for the "Chamber of Horrors" (Mme Tussaud brought most of his collection to London after his death)
