Flower painter ; born in Red Lion Street, Clerkenwell, London (18 January 1799) ; worked for and resided (1821-1827) with the lithographer Charles Joseph Hullmandel ; exhibited at the Royal Academy and Society of British Artists, London (1826-1854) ; member of the Old Watercolour Society (1835 onwards) ; became flower painter to the Duchess of Kent and Princess Victoria (1836) ; following the latter's coronation (1837) he became flower painter in ordinary to Her Majesty ; died at his home, 23 Charlotte Street, Marylebone, London (21 March 1879)
