| GB/NNAF/P126 Adam, John (1721-1792) Gender: Male Functions, occupations and activities Born in Kirkcaldy, Fife, and baptised there (5 March 1721); eldest son of William Adam; took over his father's architectural practice on his death and also took over his position of Master Mason to the Board of Ordnance for northern Britain; took his brothers Robert and James into practice (c 1750), but dissolved his partnership with Robert (1758) and with John (1760) and continued to work alone; died at Blair Adam, Tayside (25 June 1792).
